CBT: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a specific kind of counselling that research has demonstrated is particularly effective in dealing with both clinical depression and anxiety related disorders.

The therapy is based on the principle that our thoughts, ideas, perceptions, attitudes and beliefs affect the way we feel emotionally.

CBT encourages and assists the client to recognize dysfunctional thought patterns and counteract them with more logical and realistic thoughts. It helps you change the way you think, feel and behave.

CBT has been shown to help people with anxiety disorders, depression, eating disorders, OCD, sexual and relationship problems, anger and many other conditions. Your therapist will help you understand your current thought patterns, helping you to identify unhelpful or false ideas which can trigger off your difficulties or make them worse. CBT tends to be more structured and focussed than general counselling.

The number of sessions required to promote change can be very much less than other forms of counselling and the effectiveness of CBT is considered longer lasting as patients are taught techniques to maintain the application of the therapy long after the therapy itself has ended.

Sessions are usually 50 minutes long and all therapy is provided privately in a comfortable log cabin at a peaceful location in the Welsh countryside.
